Cecil C. Swain

      Cecil C. Swain, age 78, of Du Quoin, IL passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2004 in the Florida Hospital in Celebration, FL.
      Cecil was born in Christopher, IL. on November 28, 1925 the son of Clem and Lockey (Ferris) Swain. He was then united in marriage to Mildred Harriss on November 19, 1944 in Du Quoin and she survives.
      Cecil was a 24 year member of the UMWA while working at the Freeman United mine and working as an Assistant mine manager at the Old Ben Coal Company. He was a 50 year member of the Du Quoin Masonic Lodge and the Ainad Shrine. Cecil was a veteran of WWII serving in the US army. He was a member of the 65th Infantry Division serving in France and Germany.
      Cecil is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son and daughter-in-law Ron and Theresa Swain of Du Quoin, one daughter and son-in-law Dana and David Ruzicka of Godfrey IL., two brothers Carl Swain of Hillsboro, IL. and Frances Swain of Hopkinsville, KY., five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
      Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and half brother Floyd Flatt. 
      Funeral services were held on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, IL with the Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating. Friends called Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home and from 1:00 p.m. until services at the Church. Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Masonic services were held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for crippled children.
